How long have you been with Helpful Handyman?
Since the beginning! I founded Helpful Handyman in 2025 with the goal of building a reliable, professional home repair and remodeling company that homeowners can feel comfortable calling for projects both big and small.
Where do you call home?
I grew up in Iowa City and now reside in the Iowa City/Cedar Rapids Corridor.
How many years have you worked in the construction, remodeling, or handyman industry?
I have over 15 years of experience in remodeling, design, and project management, including using technology to improve efficiency, organization, and the overall customer experience.
What do you enjoy most about working at Helpful Handyman?
Building a company that people can genuinely rely on. I enjoy taking the stress out of home repairs and improvements for our customers, but I also really enjoy building a great team and creating a place where people take pride in the work they do.
What types of projects do you enjoy working on the most? What is your special trademark skill? What type of work displays your best?
I enjoy remodeling and improvement projects where you can really see the transformation from start to finish. My strength is probably looking at the entire project, figuring out the best way to approach it, and solving the problems that inevitably come up along the way. I especially enjoy projects where we can implement design and solutions to solve customer problems.
What’s something customers should know about you?
I care a lot about doing things the right way and treating customers the way I would want to be treated. Communication, reliability, and quality are extremely important to me. If we tell a customer we’re going to do something, I want them to know they can count on us to follow through.
What or who inspired you to work in the trade?
I’ve always enjoyed figuring out how things work, solving problems, and seeing the tangible results of a project. After spending many years in corporate leadership and also getting involved in residential real estate and renovations, I realized how much I enjoyed the construction and home-improvement side of things. That ultimately led me to start Helpful Handyman.
What hobbies or interests do you have outside of work?
I enjoy spending time with my family, cooking and grilling, following sports, working on projects, and learning about just about anything that catches my interest.
What do you enjoy doing with your family or friends?
Spending time together, watching sports, cooking and grilling, and going to my son’s sporting events. We’re a pretty sports-oriented family, so there’s usually a game, practice, or sporting event involved somewhere.
Favorite sports team or hobby?
The Chicago Bulls. We named our son Jordan. 🏀
Do you have any pets?
We have 2 dogs, 2 aquariums, and a cat.
Anything else to add or want to say in your bio?
Before starting Helpful Handyman, I spent more than 25 years in executive leadership roles focused on quality, process improvement, and building strong teams. I wanted to bring that same emphasis on professionalism, organization, and customer service to the home improvement industry. My goal with Helpful Handyman is pretty simple: build a company that homeowners trust and employees are proud to be part of.

Fishing, camping, repairing/fixing things.

Chilling out, watching movies, drinking and having a good time.

Iowa Hawkeyes Football. Love to watch college football and NHL hockey.
